Learning Objectives:

  • Identify two methods to deliver HD to patients in acute care facilities.
  • Describe infection risk associated with the different access types, WHO ports, Dialyzer Reuse, prime waste buckets. 
  • Gain familiarity with specialized equipment and supplies.
  • List where to find audit tools for EOC rounding. 

This course consists of 4 modules to prepare and train inpatient Infection Preventionists on infection prevention and control practices in dialysis settings in the inpatient facility.

  • Dialysis Vascular Access: Preventing BSIs and Ensuring Safe Injection Practices
  • Dialysis Water and Essentials and Related Infection Risk
  • Comprehensive Care in Dialysis: Medication Preparation, Environment of Care, and Risk Mitigation Strategies

NOTE: Each module may be taken independently and has it’s own CE certificate attached. You must complete all the steps for the module and pass the Knowledge Check to access your certificate.
